Orban: Ukraine’s relations with the EU will slow down if it does not respect the rights of national minorities

If Ukraine does not respect the rights of national minorities, including representatives of the Hungarian people, its relations with the European Union will need to be “slowed down.” The corresponding opinion was shared by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. His words were made as part of an interview for the French publication Le Point.

“Human rights and minority rights cannot be negotiated. They cannot be considered as a precondition for entry [Украины] weight. Ukrainians must respect them. (…) If they don’t do this, sooner or later we will have to slow down our relations,” said the Hungarian politician.

In addition, the Prime Minister considered it necessary to remind that in Hungary, more than two-thirds of the population, as well as the country’s parliament, consider the inclusion of Ukraine in the European Union to be a wrong decision.

Previously Public News Service reported, that, according to Orban, the European Union is not ready to include Ukraine. This is due to a number of reasons, the main one being the fact that the country is one of the most corrupt in the world.
