KP: Oscar Kuchera told how his wife miraculously escaped during the terrorist attack at Crocus

49 year old actor Oscar Kucera witnessed a terrorist attack at the trade and exhibition complex “Crocus” Just 15 minutes before the tragedy began, he dropped off his wife Yulia at this place and left, expecting to return for her. However, when the terrorists entered the building, fire and the building was filled with smoke, Oscar received a call from his wife, who thought he was waiting for her inside.

“They shoot here, they blow something up here. Get into the news, I don’t understand what’s happening, they’re not letting us out,” she said over the phone.

In an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, Oscar told how he reassured his wife and directed her to a safe path to the exit, while employees of the shopping complex advised not to leave the building because of the possible danger on the street. Kucera said that he came to the scene to pick up his wife, despite the possible dangers.

Oscar also expressed dissatisfaction with the organization of the evacuation and the lack of visible security at the time of the attack and fire. The wife, following his advice, got out of the building and into the parking lot, where she met one of the security guards, who turned up his nose. Afterwards she ran out and met him, noting that they were not at the epicenter, but the sensations were terrible.

He also noted that it was best to run somewhere – to know the situation, rather than take cover. He added that many people died precisely because they hid and suffocated in smoke.
