A group of deputies introduced State Duma bills to amend the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code regarding liability for participation in the activities of foreign organizations considered undesirable in RFincluding those whose founders are foreign states.

This information was confirmed head of the State Duma commission to investigate interference of foreign states in the internal affairs of Russia Vasily Piskarev. The proposed bills are aimed at the possibility of recognizing the activities of foreign organizations with state participation as undesirable in the Russian Federation.

The main bill was submitted to the State Duma by a group of deputies in February; it amends the law “On measures of influence on persons involved in violations of fundamental human rights and freedoms, the rights and freedoms of citizens of the Russian Federation” and four other federal laws.

Currently, legislation allows only foreign non-governmental organizations to be recognized as undesirable in Russia, but new proposals expand this circle to any foreign organizations, including those whose founders are foreign states.
