Vagit Alekperov topped the Forbes list of the richest Russians for the first time

The founder of the oil company LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov became the richest businessman in Russia according to Forbes. His fortune has increased by $8.1 billion over the past year, reaching $28.6 billion. Alekperov rose five positions in the updated ranking of Russian billionaires and took first place for the first time.

The current estimate of Alekperov’s net worth is more than $3.7 billion higher than his previous record ($24.9 billion), set in 2021. He ranks 59th on the global list of billionaires.

Last year’s leader of the ranking, founder of Eurochem and SUEK, Andrey Melnichenko, now ranks only in seventh place, having lost $4.1 billion over the year and having a fortune of $21.1 billion.
