“President Cyril Ramaphosa, on behalf of the government and people of South Africa, congratulated the President of the Russian Federation <...> Vladimir Putin on his re-election as President of the Russian Federation,” the statement said.
Ramaphosa specifically emphasized the mutual commitment of Cape Town and Moscow to cooperation in UNG20 (G20), BRICS and other organizations. The head of South Africa also pointed to his firm belief that the country will cooperate with the Russian Federation and Ukraine “in search of lasting peace between two neighboring countries.”
