Corriere della Sera: two trains collided in Italy, 17 people were injured

On the evening of December 10, a collision between two trains occurred on the Bologna-Rimini line in Italy, as a result of which at least 17 people were injured. The publication Corriere Di Bologna reports this.

The incident occurred near the city of Faenza, which caused a suspension of traffic on the section between the settlements of Castel Bolognese and Forlì, according to the Italian railway operator Trenitalia. The company warned of delays for high-speed and intercity trains, as well as trains running between regions.

Trenitalia representatives said that company employees have already provided assistance to the victims, but the cause of the collision is still unknown. The mayor of Faenza, Massimo Isola, stressed that the situation is under control and the lives of the victims are not in danger. According to him, there are no serious consequences for their health.

According to ANSA, the collision occurred around 20:20 local time (22:20 Moscow time), when the trains were moving at low speed. Passengers suffered bruises and other minor injuries.

Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini said he was monitoring the situation. He also asked to report on assistance to the victims and measures taken to protect the rights of passengers who intend to continue their trip.
