Ministry of Emergency Situations: the bodies of tourists killed in an avalanche were delivered to Yelizovo

Press service of the department Ministry of Emergency Situations Russia in the Kamchatka Territory reported that the bodies of tourists who died as a result of an avalanche on Kamchatkawere evacuated from the scene and taken to the city of Elizovo.

The report notes that on March 21, the bodies of the dead tourists were delivered to Yelizovo using the Vityaz-Aero commercial aircraft, on board which were rescuers from the search and rescue teams of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Center for Rapid Response in Emergency Situations. The evacuation of the bodies became possible only after weather conditions improved and thanks to the efforts of rescuers who overcame the difficult terrain.

The incident occurred on Monday when a group of tourists was moving along the ridge near the Krasnoarmeysky pass. As a result of a strong gust of wind, the tourists were blown into the couloir, and then an avalanche hit them. Nine people were able to escape, but a 44-year-old woman and a 19-year-old boy died under the rubble.

Earlier, a helicopter from the emergency department was sent to a mine in the Zeya district of the Amur region, where a rock collapse occurred. More about this read the material Public News Service.
