Maria Butina, a member of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs, did not rule out the possibility of further tightening working conditions for those who were recognized as foreign agents in the country when carrying out work on the territory of the state. The authors of the material asked the parliamentarian whether there is a need for further work to tighten the requirements for the work of foreign agents on the territory of the Russian Federation. In response to this, the legislator emphasized that the emergence of relevant initiatives or their absence will be demonstrated by time.

“Everything will depend on how foreign agency work is within the bounds of reason and fairness,” Butina said.

The deputy also drew attention to the fact that the Russian authorities are not tasked with “destroying” foreign agents. The measures taken against them are aimed only at protecting citizens and informing them.

Concluding her answer, the parliamentarian emphasized that Russian deputies are closely monitoring the working methods of foreign agents in Russia. The corresponding activities are carried out with the intention of protecting Russians from unfriendly actions carried out by such people.
