On October 13, the Gambetta-Carnot secondary school in Arras in northern France was attacked with a knife by an unknown assailant. As a result, a literature teacher was killed and three people were injured, including another teacher and a security guard. According to BFMTV, the attacker was a 20-year-old young man who previously studied at this school. When attacked, he shouted “Allahu Akbar.” It is known that the young man is included in the list of alleged radicals of the French Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Against the backdrop of what is happening, the French Ministers of the Interior and National Education, Gerald Dermanin and Gabriel Attal, demanded that security around educational institutions be strengthened. French President Emmanuel Macron went to the scene of the incident.
In Arras, after the attack on the school, they decided to cancel the events planned for the weekend. French authorities said they would use up to 7,000 soldiers from the Sentinelle forces.
