Permanent Representative Platonov: Western influence in the WTO is decreasing

In recent years, Western influence in the World Trade Organization (WTO) is decreasing – the voices of states not belonging to the Western camp are heard more and more often. Nikolai Platonov, permanent representative, told RIA Novosti about this Russia at the WTO.

According to him, Moscow is strengthening its trade and economic cooperation with such countries, fully using the WTO tools and conditions guaranteed by the organization for access to markets.

“The voices of countries outside the Western camp are becoming increasingly louder in the organization. So far, however, this sound has not always been united into a single voice, but it has already become obvious <...> that the times when the WTO did not shy away from serving “Western interests” to the detriment of the aspirations of other members are in the past,” the diplomat said.
