Writer Vladimir Sorokin expressed his opinion regarding the critics of his latest novel, Heritage, calling them “false patriots.”
The author stated that critics select passages from the text, attach “convenient” labels to them, initiate public outcry and contact law enforcement agencies.
Recalling his previous novel “Blue Lard,” for which similar “false patriots” filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office in 2002, Sorokin emphasized the similarity of the situations.
The writer noted that both works, “Blue Lard” and “Legacy,” are fantastic and describe the future world. Sorokin suggested that the negative reaction to his work was due to fear of the upcoming future.
