The Investigative Committee accused the former Minister of Sports of Dagestan of particularly large embezzlement of the budget

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has charged the former Minister of Sports of Dagestan, the head of the city of Kizilyurt, Magomed Magomedov, with particularly large-scale embezzlement of budget funds, the press service of the Basmanny Court of Moscow told Vedomosti.

Magomedov was taken to Moscow and interrogated. The charge was brought under Part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (misappropriation or embezzlement committed by an organized group, as well as on an especially large scale).

The Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation requests that Magomedov be taken into custody until December 2, 2023. It is specified that the head of the Department of the Ministry of Sports of Dagestan, Khalitbek Makhachev, was also detained along with him. In the near future, the court will select preventive measures for them.

About the fact that Magomedova detained, it became known on October 3. The arrest was made by security forces from Moscow.

From 2012 to 2021 Magomedov served as the Minister of Sports of Dagestan. He became the mayor of Kizilyurt in May 2021.
