Academician Drapkina spoke about the dangers of air in apartments

Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and general practitioner Oksana Drapkina warned about the dangers of air pollution inside residential premises, noting that this poses a serious threat to health.

The doctor noted that many people underestimate the problem of air pollution in homes, believing that it is associated only with the urban environment and car emissions.

According to Drapkina, the consequences of indoor air pollution can be both short-term (irritation of the mucous membranes, headaches) and long-term, including chronic diseases of the lungs, heart and even malignant tumors.

The expert noted that the problem becomes especially urgent in the cold season, when people spend more time indoors.

Oksana Drapkina identified several main sources of air pollution in homes. These include tobacco smoke, fine particles produced during cooking, household chemicals, mold, pet hair, as well as dust and heavy metals that accumulate in carpets and upholstered furniture.

The expert advises to ventilate the room every 2 hours, avoid smoking indoors, and always turn on the hood when cooking. Do wet cleaning regularly.
