Kazakh bank Freedom Finance has suspended work with Mir cards

It became known that the Kazakh bank Freedom Finance announced a ban on transfers of funds from and to cards of the Russian payment system Mir, citing information published in the credit organization’s application.

Now clients can only use alternative transfer methods, such as SWIFT transfers, transactions through Visa and Mastercard cards, as well as transfers by phone number through the Tsifra Bank system.

The bank also increased the commission for SWIFT transfers for individuals and introduced new commissions for crediting money from cards of other banks. These changes in bank policy came after the introduction sanctions against the National Payment Card System (NSCP) by USA.

A representative of the NSPK said that the sanctions will not affect the operation of services within Russiabut the decision to accept Mir cards abroad remains at the discretion of foreign banks.
