Thus the representative “Aeroflot“commented on reports that the Federal Air Transport Agency has addressed airlines with a recommendation not to operate flights abroad on aircraft of the State Transport Leasing Company (STLC). Exceptions were made for flights to Belarus and Turkey. The recommendation is valid from September 29 and “until a special decision” by the Federal Air Transport Agency.
The decision was made due to the risk of arrest of subsidiaries’ airliners STLC abroad, a source in the industry told Vedomosti. The airlines continue to operate flights under contracts with GTLK Europe, which is currently undergoing liquidation.
According to the representative STLC, counterparties are notified of the risks of using the fleet outside the Russian legal framework. The company has been under blocking sanctions from the US, UK and EU since 2022, after the start of a special operation in Ukraine. Since May 31, 2023, the Irish GTLK Europe DAC and GTLK Capital DAC have been in the process of liquidation by order of the Irish court.
