A Russian newspaper described a number of rules that will help start a car in the cold.
First of all, it says that you should check the engine oil level, then look at the antifreeze level in the cooling system. They also remind you that before starting the engine in cold weather, you need to check that all electrical loads (headlights, heaters, radio, etc.) are turned off – this is necessary, since this should reduce the load on the battery when starting.
In addition, when starting the engine, you should not hold the key in the “starter” position for more than 10 seconds; it is better to wait a few seconds and restart a little later.
After starting the engine, do not rush, you need to let it warm up a little before starting to drive. This way, the oil and other vehicle fluids will have time to reach a more optimal temperature for full operation.
