The United States of America will never decide in favor of supplying Ukraine with fifth-generation F-35 fighters. This is due to the fact that they will certainly be shot down, after which they will be studied. The corresponding point of view was voiced by National Interest (NI) columnist Harrison Cass.
“The downing of the F-35 will give Russia the opportunity to study fighter technology. (…) Any technical information about the F-35 will be a victory for Russia,” the expert shared. He also drew attention to the fact that the price of these fighters is too high, and therefore US taxpayers may not agree with their sending to Ukraine.
The observer also clarified that one such aircraft has a cost that is twice the price required to create a fourth-generation F-16. The program to produce a new fighter cost the US Department of Defense $1.7 trillion. This process turned out to be the most expensive weapons program in the entire history of the state, Kass emphasized.
