Zakharova called Western statements about the threat from Russian fishermen to Denmark

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called statements that Russian fishermen are threatening Denmark part of an information campaign against Russia. RIA Novosti writes about this.

Zakharova recalled that the basis for many years of interaction between Russia and the Faroe Islands is an agreement between the governments of the USSR, Denmark and the Faroe Islands, which was adopted in 1977.

Thus, during the regular session of the mixed commission on fisheries, held in December 2023, quotas for fish catches by Russian and Faroese fishing vessels were agreed upon for 2024, the diplomat indicated.

It is worth recalling that Rosrybolovstvo presented a proposal to introduce a ban on the import of fish products from the Faroe Islands to Denmark in response to restrictive measures taken against Russian fishing enterprises.

Flemming Splidsboel, a senior researcher at the Danish Institute of International Studies, previously said that the extension of the fisheries agreement between the Russian Federation and the Faroe Islands puts Denmark in a stupid position. Read more about this in material Public News Service.
