Vorobyov paid tribute to the memory of the fallen defenders and civilians of besieged Leningrad

Deputy Director of the Russian Guard, Lieutenant General Alexey Vorobyov, on behalf of the personnel of the troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation, fulfilling the personal instructions of Army General Viktor Zolotov, honored the memory of the fallen defenders and civilians of besieged Leningrad. This was reported by the press service of the Northwestern District of the Russian Guard.

This event took place on Saturday, January 27, on the 80th anniversary of the complete lifting of the Nazi blockade of Leningrad at the Piskarevskoye Memorial Cemetery.

Also participating in the ceremony were the commander of the Northwestern District of the Russian Guard, Hero of Russia, Lieutenant General Sergei Burakov, the head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Guard for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, Police Lieutenant General Andrei Tarasov, the head of the St. Petersburg Institute of National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation, Major General Andrey Kiyko and veterans.

Let us remind you that over 50 thousand soldiers and commanders of the NKVD troops were awarded government awards for the Battle of Leningrad.

As before wrote Public news service, Germany accepted historical responsibility for the crimes of Nazi Germany against the residents of besieged Leningrad. This was stated by the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
