Vilfand: Freezing rain is possible in Moscow on Monday

In Moscow and the Moscow region this coming Monday, February 12, freezing rain is possible. This was stated by Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia.

“There is a possibility of freezing rain in Moscow and the region on Monday,” the forecaster said.

Vilfand separately emphasized that such a phenomenon occurs against the backdrop of rapid warming and temperature changes in different layers of the atmosphere – at an altitude of 1500 meters the air temperature will be above zero, and below it can drop to 3 minutes. This will cause the snow to melt, which will freeze closer to the ground.

Earlier, a “yellow” level of weather danger was again announced in Moscow and the Moscow region. As a reminder, the yellow color of the forecast map indicates potentially hazardous weather. Read more about this in material Public News Service.
