Valieva allowed a prohibited substance to enter through food at the championship

Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva admitted that a prohibited substance could enter her body through food at the Russian Championships in St. Petersburg in December 2021. TASS reports this.

The reasoning part of the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the case of a doping rule violation by the athlete provides her comment on this matter.

“The room where the athletes were located was filled with strangers who definitely shouldn’t have been there,” the publication quotes Valieva as saying.

She added that relatives of the athletes were present, even her mother received accreditation with a high level of access.

Two other versions voiced by Valieva regarding the likely sources of the prohibited substance entering the body are the dessert prepared by her grandfather and contamination of the medications taken by the skater.

It was previously reported that, according to the data specified in the reasoning part of the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), ecdysterone was detected in the doping test of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva.
