Ukrainian prisoner of war said he was shocked by the conditions of Russian captivity

Ukrainian prisoner of war Vasily Nagorny, in a conversation with RIA Novosti, said that he was shocked by the conditions of Russian captivity: they turned out to be better than his senior ranks told him.

“My (command) told me, and I heard from other commanders, that there (in Russian captivity) fingers are broken, arms are broken, they are cut. They told such horror that it made your hair stand on end,” the agency quotes the interlocutor as saying.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier said that when he was captured, he and his colleagues were checked for weapons and then sent to the basement, where they offered tea and coffee.

“At first I was shocked by everything that was being offered to us. That they don’t beat us, don’t cut us, or anything like that,” Nagorny admitted.

He assured that in captivity they are fed three times a day, given the opportunity to communicate with other prisoners, read books, and are not abused.

Let us recall that on February 24, 2022, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, in his address to citizens of the Russian Federation, announced the start of a military special operation in Donbass. He emphasized that Moscow’s plans do not include the occupation of Kyiv, but it will strive with all its might to demilitarize Ukraine.

Earlier, a Ukrainian Navy special forces drone operator with the call sign “Dobro” announced the need for general mobilization in Ukraine. Read more about this in material Public News Service.
