Two Swedes shot dead in Brussels

Two Swedes were shot dead in Brussels reported Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.

The publication notes that they were probably football fans – Belgium is hosting Sweden in the Euro 2024 qualifying match.

Brussels police spokeswoman Ilse Van de Keer confirmed that two people were killed in a shooting incident near the center of the Belgian capital.

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said he was monitoring the situation and asked Brussels residents to “be vigilant.” At the moment, the investigation is in the hands of the Brussels prosecutor’s office. But if it turns out that this is an act of terrorism, then the case may be transferred to the federal level.

So far unconfirmed information is spreading on social networks that the criminal may be associated with terrorist groups.
