On the Thai island of Phuket, unknown persons kidnapped a Russian couple, then forced them to transfer funds in cryptocurrency totaling approximately $845 thousand. The Bangkok Post newspaper reports this, citing the head of the local police, Sinlet Sukhum.
The police conducted an investigation and found out the identities of four kidnapping suspects, who turned out to be Russian citizens.
Details of the interrogations and further investigation are not disclosed at this time.
According to the newspaper, the theft occurred on January 31, after which the abducted were forced to transfer cryptocurrency to the accounts of the attackers. After the transfer, the couple was released, and they contacted the police with a statement about what happened.
