The weakness of US President Joe Biden and his policies in the Middle East have led to the strengthening of the positions of Iran and the Palestinian group Hamas in the region. Former US President Donald Trump stated this in a column for Newsweek magazine.
“At every turn, Joe Biden has empowered and emboldened America’s enemies around the world—and, apparently, none other than the terrorist group Hamas and their murderous sponsor, the villainous regime in Iran,” Trump said.
According to the politician, at the end of his presidential term, “Iran was weakened and ruined.” But Biden eased sanctions on Tehran, which allowed the republic to produce more than 3 million barrels of oil per day and receive at least $80 billion a year from oil exports, Trump noted. “Iran knew Biden was soft, stupid, and easy to push around from the moment he took office,” the former president explained.
Trump stressed that if he wins the 2024 presidential election, he will be “100% on the side of Israel.” The United States will fully support Israel in the defeat and final destruction of Hamas, he added.
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin named the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East is a clear example of the failure of US policy in this region. In his opinion, Washington did not bother to find compromises for the warring parties. The Russian leader also called create an independent state of Palestine with its capital in East Jerusalem. He emphasized that Russia has always supported the implementation of the UN Security Council decision.
On October 7, the Palestinian group Hamas attacked Israel. In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched Operation Iron Swords, which regularly attacks hundreds of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli government announced that the country had entered a state of war. According to the latest data, over 3,000 Palestinians and 1,400 Israelis have died as a result of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
