The US reintroduced sanctions against Rosoboronexport due to ties with Iran

The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed sanctions against Rosoboronexport (part of Rostec) in connection with the restriction program against Iran, should from a message on the management website.

According to a US Treasury press release, OFAC Today imposed sanctions against 11 individuals, eight organizations and one ship, which are based in Iran, Hong Kong, China and Venezuela. The American department links them with Iran’s programs to create ballistic missiles and drones.

Rosoboronexport was previously included in three different sanctions lists. The statement also clarifies that the decision to impose sanctions is due to the expiration of restrictions on Iran imposed by UN Security Council Resolution 2231.
