The total prize fund of the World Friendship Games will amount to 4.6 billion rubles
4.6 billion rubles will be allocated for prize payments at the World Friendship Games. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko at the plenary session of the “Russia – a Sports Power” forum, which takes place in Perm.
“The total number of participants in the Friendship Games will be 5,500 people, the total prize fund will be 4.6 billion rubles,” he said (quote according to TASS).
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decree on holding international competitions “World Friendship Games” in 2024 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg. According to the text of the document, the purpose of the event is to provide free access for Russian athletes to international sports activities.
Speaking at the opening of the forum in Perm, the head of state said that sport is an “absolute state priority” for Russia, and emphasized that the state supports athletes who are forced to miss competitions. Putin also promised to pay attention to mass sports in Russia.
The President recalled that the Future Games will be held in Kazan in February 2024, and the BRICS Games will be held there in June, and the World Friendship Games will be held in Moscow and Yekaterinburg in September. Putin clarified that the competition program includes both well-known sports and those that are “gaining popularity,” including breaking, skateboarding and sports programming.
