The State Duma explained the fall of Telegram in Russia

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Anton Tkachev explained the reasons for the failure in messengers.

In a conversation with Duma TV, Tkachev explained that the “fall” of Telegrama happened due to the inspection and reconfiguration of Roskomnadzor gateways.

“Roskomnadzor conducted this check to understand where these bottlenecks are, which could in the future lead to the possible unblocking of one of the gateways or channels,” the deputy clarified.

On Tuesday, February 27, Russians encountered problems with Telegram. The complaints were confirmed by the service, which monitors problems with various resources and applications.

The first reports of problems began to appear around 12:40 Moscow time. Within 10 minutes the number of requests exceeded three thousand.

Most of the complaints were recorded from Moscow and the Moscow region. However, residents of other regions of Russia also reported problems.

Earlier, system administrator Denis Krasilnikov said that “someone called what was happening a rehearsal for cutting off Russia from the World Wide Web.” Read more about this in material Public News Service.
