On Monday, February 12, the elected President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, commented on the policy regarding bilateral relations with Russia during a briefing. TASS reports this.
According to him, the Finnish side is committed exclusively to practical relations with the Russian Federation. At the same time, he emphasized that there are currently no contacts with senior management.
“We currently have no political relations with Russia. I don’t see them improving anytime soon,” the news agency quoted Stubb as saying.
He cited Russia’s special operation in Ukraine as the reason. The new president emphasized that “Finland still has practical relations with Russia, for example on border issues and diplomacy.”
Earlier it was reported that the candidate from the ruling National Coalition political party in Finland, Alexander Stubb, won the second round of the presidential election. This follows from information from the country’s Ministry of Justice.
