Russian air defense systems intercepted two Ukrainian missiles over Crimea, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
“On October 18, at about 17.40 Moscow time, the Kyiv regime attempted a terrorist attack with anti-aircraft missiles of the S-200 air defense system converted into a strike version on the territory of Crimea,” – should from the ministry’s message on the Telegram channel.
The fragments of the intercepted missiles fell in a deserted area and then detonated on the ground, the Defense Ministry said. No one was injured as a result of the incident. Also, no destruction was recorded.
Previously, the governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev reportedthat in the area of Sukharnaya Balka the Black Sea Fleet was repelling an attack by air targets, smoke was observed there. Later he clarifiedthat a missile was shot down in the Kara-Koba area, the warhead of which detonated on the ground. During the evening, the air raid warning was announced twice in the city.
A high (“yellow”) level of terrorist threat remains in effect in Sevastopol indefinitely. Since October 19, 2022, by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the city has established a medium level of response.
