The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) detained 29 militants from the Palestinian group Hamas in the West Bank. About it it says on the IDF Telegram channel.
It is noted that during the arrest, Hamas militants resisted: they opened fire on the Israeli military and threw stones and Molotov cocktails at them. In response, the IDF also opened fire and, in particular, blocked the road in the area of the city of Surif.
During the arrest, weapons, ammunition and improvised explosive devices were confiscated from the militants. It is emphasized that there are no Israeli military casualties.
On the morning of October 7, Hamas began military operations against Israel. The IDF responded by launching Operation Iron Swords, and the Israeli government announced that the country had entered a state of war. Earlier today, the IDF announced the restoration of control over all populated areas of Israel and the transition to the phase of the complete destruction of Hamas.
According to Israeli media, more than 700 citizens of the country were killed as a result of the Hamas attack on Israel. Palestinian Ministry of Health reported about 508 dead and 2,751 injured. On the night of October 9, the Israeli military carried out strikes on more than 500 strategic targets in the Gaza Strip that are associated with Hamas, the IDF reported.
Earlier on October 9, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) Ahmed Abu al-Gheit called urgently stop the Palestinian-Israeli clash. In the Kremlin expressed extreme concern about the situation. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that the situation needs to be “brought back to a peaceful direction” as soon as possible, since the continuation of hostilities “is fraught with further escalation and growth of the conflict.”
