The French Interior Ministry will interrogate 850 people as part of a campaign against drug traffickers

Minister of Internal Affairs France Gerald Darmanin announced the expansion of the operation to combat drug trafficking. He announced major raids in various cities across the country, including Dijon, Lille and Sevran. Darmanin also announced plans to conduct similar raids in other cities in France.

He said 850 people were planned to be questioned as part of the anti-drug campaign known as Operation XXL. So far, 496 people have already been arrested during the operation.

Darmanen also noted that during March 25 police conducted raids and arrested several people in the cities of Villeneuve-d’Ascq and Roubaix. He stressed that the French authorities intend to increase the frequency of such operations in order to “deal a very strong blow.” Darmanen did not specify plans to conduct raids in other cities.
