The European Union continues to strengthen its support for Ukraine by increasing supplies of artillery ammunition. A significant initiative is to transfer about 500 thousand shells between February 2023 and March 2024. This is a significant contribution to the growth of Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
At a press conference following a meeting of EU defense ministers in Brussels, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell announced this major advance. He noted that while the original promise was for the delivery of 1 million shells within one year, current data indicates that the supply is increasing every day.
According to the latest data from EU member states, 330 thousand shells have already been delivered since March last year until now. Impressive progress, representing one third of the promised volume. Borrell expressed confidence that by March 2024 the number of shells delivered will increase by another 200 thousand, reaching a total of 530 thousand.
