The court commuted the sentence of a resident of Bashkiria who killed his ex-wife

Supreme court Republic of Bashkortostan reduced the sentence of Alik Makhiyanov, convicted of murdering his ex-wife. According to the joint press service of the republic’s courts, the sentence was commuted by two months, and now amounts to 9 years and 10 months of imprisonment in a maximum security colony.

The press service stated: “The Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Bashkortostan made changes to the verdict of the Beloretsk Interdistrict Court dated November 3, 2023 in relation to Alik Makhiyanov. Taking into account the circumstances mitigating the punishment, Makhiyanov was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 9 years and 10 months to be served in a maximum security correctional colony. The rest of the sentence remained unchanged.”

In November 2023, the Beloretsky Interdistrict Court of Bashkiria found Makhiyanov guilty of the murder of his ex-wife and sentenced him to 10 years in a maximum security colony. The murder occurred in August 2022, when Makhiyanov stabbed his victim more than 10 times. The deceased worked as the head of a department in the Beloretsky district administration.

Earlier, a three-month-old baby was injured after being attacked by his father. During the conflict, the father began to attack his wife while she was holding the baby in her arms. As a result, the child fell from the mother’s arms. After the attack, the man left the apartment, and the mother called an ambulance.
