On Wednesday, February 7, several major accidents occurred on highways near Moscow. The cause was bad weather caused by heavy snowfall. RIA Novosti reports this.
One of the accidents occurred on the 86th kilometer of the M-4 Don highway, in the Stupino area, where 29 cars moving in the same direction collided. According to emergency services, one person died and three were injured.
In the urban district of Pushkino, on the M-8 Kholmogory highway, 22 cars collided. As a result of the incident, four people were injured.
The day before, weather forecasters announced an impending deterioration in weather conditions amid the passage of Cyclone Olga.
Earlier it was reported that the North Atlantic cyclone Olga is approaching the European part of Russia, which will bring with it a sharp cooling down to minus 20 degrees in a number of regions, and will cover Moscow and the Moscow region with record snowfalls.
The Ministry of Transport of the Moscow Region issued an appeal to drivers, urging them to be careful on the roads.
