Samara Minister of Economy Bogdanov will work on drones

Dmitry Azarov, governor of the Samara region, approved Dmitry Bogdanov as the minister of economic development and investment of the region.

Bogdanov, originally from Togliatti and having two higher educations, began his career in 2010 at Vnesheconombank. He held various leadership positions, including at the Zhigulevskaya Dolina technology park and the Tolyatti Department of Economic Development. He then moved to the Ulyanovsk region, where he became deputy chairman of the government responsible for development. In 2018, Bogdanov headed the Ministry of Economic Development and Investment of the Samara Region.

The governor explained his decision to retain Bogdanov as minister, noting the stable development of the region’s economy even in the context of a pandemic and sanctions. Bogdanov was instructed to continue attracting investments, supporting businesses of various sizes, and especially focusing on creating an unmanned aircraft cluster in the region.

A plant for the production of cargo civil drones is planned to be launched in the region in the near future, and an experimental legal regime for unmanned aircraft has already been established. The governor emphasized the importance of supporting the project, which will become a technological platform for testing and introducing innovations in the field of unmanned aircraft.
