Samara authorities may terminate the contract with Belarusians for the supply of trams

Authorities Samara expressed dissatisfaction with cooperation with the Belarusian supplier, whose responsibilities included supplying 12 trams to the regional capital. This was reported by the ProCitySamara portal.

It is clarified that the Belarusian company missed the previously announced deadlines and sent low-quality rolling stock to Samara. Representatives of city authorities spoke about this during a meeting of the city parliament.

In addition, it is noted that a significant part of the trams brought from Belarus had software problems due to the use of sanctioned equipment.

“We are imposing fines on Belarusians and are considering breaking the contract with this supplier in favor of another manufacturer,” government officials also said.

Against this background, Samara authorities intend to purchase 10 more three-section trams. However, significant funding will be needed to achieve this goal. At the moment, the budget of the regional capital provides only 1.6 billion rubles, and the city needs another 3.6 billion for procurement.

Previously Public News Service reported, that SIMETRA conducted a study in the field of transport planning and compiled a list of cities with the most convenient public transport for local residents. Samara took eighth place in it.
