Russian Foreign Ministry: Work on organizing Intervision has begun

Director of the Department for Multilateral Humanitarian Cooperation and Cultural Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Alexander Alimov, announced the start of work on organizing the Intervision competition. Currently, the department is providing support to the organizers in establishing the necessary international contacts.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is assisting the organizers of the competition in establishing contacts with countries that are invited to participate in this event. We will continue this work,” RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.

Earlier it became known that the Intervision competition, an analogue of the Eurovision song contest, will be held in St. Petersburg this year. The corresponding order was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The government allocated 600 million rubles for the implementation of the event. It will be held with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture and Channel One. It is alleged that the competition will be implemented “outside of politics.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation will monitor the distribution of the budget.
