Liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from the Russian Federation to France increased by 41 percent year-on-year during the nine months of 2023. Artem Studennikov, director of the first European department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, shared the relevant information during a conversation with RIA Novosti.
He also drew attention to the fact that, in accordance with the results of 2022, Russia received the role of the second supplier of natural gas to France after the United States of America due to the import of Russian LNG. The agency’s interlocutor clarified that the terminal located in Montoir-de-Bretan served as the main receiving point for LNG supplies from Russia.
The diplomat also noted that during 2022, the terminal received 1.68 billion cubic meters of liquefied gas. Moreover, already in the first half of 2023, its quantity amounted to 0.89 billion cubic meters.
