Russia heads the board of the International Civil Defense Organization for the first time
Russia became the chairman of the executive board of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) for the first time. About it reported press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
“In our work we will be guided by the principles of openness, mutual respect and trust, acting in the interests of all ICDO member countries. This is especially important right now, when before our eyes the world is faced with large-scale emergencies of a natural and man-made nature, military conflicts and humanitarian disasters,” noted the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov.
The chairmanship of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the ICDO Council will last until 2025.
ICDO was founded in 1932 and is headquartered in Geneva. The organization includes 60 states, the executive council includes 25 members. ICDO is involved in improving civil defense institutions and structures by providing technical assistance, advice, training and access to an international network of experts specialized in disaster management.
