Almost 450 citizens of the Russian Federation currently continue to remain in the Gaza Strip. Aliya Zaripova, press secretary of the Russian mission to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) located in Ramallah, shared the relevant information during a conversation with a TASS correspondent.
“About 450 Russians are now in the Palestinian enclave,” journalists quote Zaripova.
However, as the representative of the diplomatic mission noted, the exact number of Russian citizens who still remain in Gaza is quite difficult to determine.
The press secretary also noted that approximately 1.2 thousand Russian citizens are currently registered with the consulate. However, she emphasized that “not everyone has registered their children yet; some could have arrived in Gaza at the very moment the sharp escalation began and remained in the strip; others, on the contrary, left the enclave at that time and were unable to return to Gaza ”
Previously Public News Service reported, that the Rafah checkpoint, which operates on the border of the Gaza Strip and Egypt, has been crossed by 750 citizens of the Russian Federation since the beginning of the escalation of the conflict between Israel and the radical Palestinian movement Hamas. Roman Okhotenko, director of the information policy department of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, shared the relevant information.
