Putin met with Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army Haftar

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the commander-in-chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalifa Haftar. He discussed with the head of the LNA the situation in Libya and the North African region, reported “RIA Novosti” press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov.

“Yes, we confirm the fact of such a meeting. Indeed, there was a meeting with Haftar. The situation in Libya and in the region as a whole was discussed,” Peskov noted.

Earlier, the LNA press service announced on its Facebook page (the social network belongs to the Meta company, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) about Haftar’s arrival in Russia. The report noted that the leader of the Libyan army held meetings with Putin and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

In October-November, the Russian President may meet with the leader of the Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik. Dodik announced about his intention to hold negotiations with Putin on national radio and television.
