Chinese President Xi Jinping does not make immediate decisions, but analyzes the situation and looks to the future – these are the qualities that distinguish a world leader from “temporaries,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with China Central Television (CTC).
“He does not make short-term decisions based on some current situation. He assesses the situation, analyzes and looks to the future. This is very important, and this distinguishes a true world leader from the people we call “temporary workers” – who come for five minutes to show off on the international platform, and just disappear unnoticed,” Putin said.
In his opinion, Xi Jinping is “a completely different person.” The leader of the PRC is a thorough, calm, business-like and reliable partner, and if the Russian side agrees on something with him, then “you can be sure that our agreements will be implemented on both sides,” the president added.
On September 21, Putin, at a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, said that he had accepted the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the third international forum in October, dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative (aka Belt and Road). On October 1, Putin, congratulating Xi Jinping on the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, noted that negotiations during the forum would contribute to further building up the entire range of constructive Russian-Chinese ties in the interests of ensuring security and stability both in Eurasia and throughout the world.
The October meeting between the leaders of China and Russia will be the second in 2023. Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Russia on March 20-22, which was his first foreign trip after being appointed chairman of the People’s Republic of China for the third time. At the same time, he invited Putin to visit China.
