Putin assigned the name “Guards” to two air regiments


The 47th Bomber Aviation Regiment and the 159th Fighter Aviation Regiment were given the honorary titles of “Guards.” Decrees signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin published on the official legal information portal.

The titles were awarded with the wording “for mass heroism and courage, fortitude and courage shown by the regiment’s personnel in combat operations to protect the Fatherland and state interests in armed conflicts.”

The decrees came into force from the date of signing.

On September 26 it became known that the President appropriated the name “Guards” to the 332nd separate helicopter regiment. August 25 honorary title “Guards” got The 70th motorized rifle regiment, the 8th anti-aircraft missile Shavlinskaya Order of Kutuzov brigade, the 238th artillery brigade, the 18th army aviation brigade, as well as the 107th missile Mozyr Order of Lenin Red Banner brigade.
