Polskie Radio: The ex-Minister of Internal Affairs and his deputy were detained in Poland

Polish police detained former Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski and his deputy Maciej Wonsik at the presidential palace in Warsaw, according to Polskie Radio.

The reason for their detention was the decision of the Warsaw Regional Court in December 2023, where they were sentenced to two years in prison for abuse of power during their work at the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau as part of the “land scandal”.

Kaminski and Wonsik, despite their recent arrests, were previously elected to the Polish Sejm from the Law and Justice (PiS) party. But they were deprived of their mandates after a new court decision in a case that began back in 2015.

It is worth noting that in 2015, President Andrzej Duda pardoned Kaminski and Wonsik. However, in June last year, the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court considered the cassation appeals and overturned the decision to dismiss the case against the former heads of the anti-corruption bureau. This led to the resumption of the case in court and the subsequent detention of both politicians.

Previously reportedthat The Time included a “divided Ukraine” in its list of global risks for 2024. Ukraine will take more military risks this year, including striking more targets inside Russia.

Previously, it was reported that in Ukraine there was an outbreak of an increase in the number of divorces, which resulted in the removal of mothers from custody of children in favor of fathers.

One of the reasons for this action is legislation that allows those liable for military service to receive a deferment from conscription. More about this read the material Public News Service.
