According to Politico, if Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban blocks the release of a €50 billion aid package to Ukraine, EU countries will advocate for a larger peace fund to help Kyiv.
“The idea is to approve and agree on the replenishment of the fund’s budget of 5 billion euros as soon as possible and move on to joint European arms purchases,” the material says.
Diplomats intend to do a lot of work to ensure that all European capitals approve a branch of the Ukraine Assistance Fund for arms supplies.
Previously, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the amount of 50 billion euros is needed by Europe more than by Ukraine, given the problems faced by all EU countries. According to him, Europeans also need this amount, since the European economy is increasingly suffering.
