Political scientist Zhuravlev: Ukraine cannot repay its debts to the West

Political scientist Dmitry Zhuravlev, in a conversation with Lenta.ru, announced Ukraine’s inability to repay its debts to the West in the near future.

This situation, according to the political scientist, may continue for at least the next few years.

Thus, a significant part of what the country manages to earn is quickly stolen, which will inevitably affect the state budget even if industry is restored, Zhuravlev warned.

“Theoretically, Ukraine could pay off its debts, but practically, it’s unlikely. If you put things in order there, it will be a rich country. But what is needed is order. Even if production is restored, but theft is not dealt with, nothing will change,” the political scientist said.

It is worth recalling that the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, doubted the continuation of assistance to Ukraine. Now, he said, it is necessary to answer the question: “Will this assistance continue?”

The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy, Yulia Sviridenko, previously said that Kyiv, without the allocation of money from Western countries, could delay the payment of salaries to 500 thousand civil servants and 1.4 million teachers. Read more about this in material Public News Service.
