The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, decided to change the composition of the government due to the failure to implement the country’s economic program, said Roman Yuneman, a graduate student at the Faculty of World Economy and International Politics at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, in an interview with Lenta.ru.
The expert assessed Tokayev’s decision to dismiss Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov and his government, noting that the cabinet failed to achieve the goals set by the president for industrialization and ensuring economic growth.
Yuneman also drew attention to record inflation in Kazakhstan in December 2023 among the EAEU countries and the presence of a communal crisis. He stressed that Tokayev is forced to change his team to avoid a deterioration in his rating, and expressed hope that the new government will be able to cope with problems in the housing and communal services sector and reduce inflation, which will be perceived as serious progress.
Earlier it was reported that the government of Kazakhstan resigned. More about this – in the material Public News Service.
