Permanent Representative Platonov: Russia will gain nothing from leaving the WTO

Russian Federation nothing to gain by leaving the World Trade Organization (WTO). Nikolai Platonov, Russia’s permanent representative to the WTO, told RIA Novosti about this.

According to him, almost all of Russia’s foreign trade is based on the rules of this organization, and the country’s potential withdrawal from the WTO would have more disadvantages than advantages, since Moscow would lose the opportunity to convey its point of view to other members of the organization.

“By remaining in the WTO, Russia can convey its point of view to other participants and contribute to the adoption of decisions that meet our interests. Leaving the WTO would mean not only the refusal of more favorable conditions for access to the markets of many of our trading partners, but also the loss of the opportunity to influence the formation of multilateral trade rules,” the permanent representative said.

Earlier it became known that the West continues to purchase titanium from the Russian Federation for hundreds of millions of dollars. Read more about this in material Public News Service.
