In Russia, there is a noticeable increase in the interest of Russians in traveling abroad during the New Year holidays. Interfax reports this with reference to the Russian Union of Tourism Industry (RST).
As stated in the publication, sales of foreign tours increased by 15-30 percent compared to last year, which indicates increased tourist activity of Russians.
RST Vice President Dmitry Gorin pointed to growth not only in the tourist travel segment, but also in the field of business travel, including business trips and business events. Among the popular destinations among tour operators, the UAE, Thailand, Turkey, Egypt and Sri Lanka stand out. There has also been an increase in travel to neighboring countries such as Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
